TỪ VỰNG & CẤU TRÚC CÚ PHÁP TRONG DỊCH THUẬT
Nếu gặp phải câu ‘Việt nam là nước sản xuất gạo đứng hàng thứ 6 trên thế giới’ mà bạn chọn lựa ‘từ vựng’ để dịch thì câu sau đây là thích hợp: ‘Vietnam is the country which was ranked/ ranks sixth in rice production/in the production of rice in the world’. Tuy nhiên, cấu trúc cú pháp trong tiếng Anh sau cũng diễn đạt ý tương tự ở tiếng Việt ‘The sixth largest producer in the world’ nên ta cũng có thể dịch ‘Vietnam is the sixth largest producer of rice in the world’.
Trong sách quảng bá du lịch ‘Lonely Planet’ khi nói về việc ‘cải cách kinh tế ở Việt nam’ đã dùng cấu trúc ngữ pháp so sánh nhất với các từ ‘second’, ‘third’, ‘fourth’…. để diễn đạt ý : ‘Nước xuất khẩu gạo đứng hàng thứ hai sau Thái lan như ‘As a direct result of economic reforms, Vietnam moved from being a rice importer in the mid-1980 to become the world’s second largest rice exporter in 1997 (after Thailand). Như vậy, trong giáo trình dịch của Khoa Anh Đại học Ngoại ngữ Đà nẵng, bạn bắt gặp câu như ‘As a founding member of the United Nations, Canada is the fourth largest contributor to its budget. Cannada has taken a leading role in the establishment of many key UN organizations… thì dễ dàng dịch ‘Canada là nước đóng góp đứng hàng thứ tư cho ngân sách Liên Hiệp Quốc….
